Vitrum Celebrates 20 Years
On Thursday, June 15, 2017, Vitrum Glass Group, western Canada’s largest glass fabricator, hosted Glass Talks 2017 and celebrated their Twenty Year Anniversary at its head office and fabrication facility in Langley, BC. This year’s event was a huge success with a record turnout with nearly two-hundred architects, glaziers and industry partners in attendance with guests from Vancouver, Victoria, Calgary, Portland and Seattle.
Architects, customers, suppliers and guests were invited to attend an exclusive tour of Vitrum’s fabrication facility where they had the chance to see the products they specify and purchase being produced right in front of them. Tour highlights included: Insulating Glass, Tempering, Bent Glass, Heat Soaking, Lamination, Custom Glass Fabrication, Silk-Screening and Spandrel Glass. To ensure a complete fenestration experience the tour continued with a visit to Apex Aluminum Extrusions, BC’s only aluminum extruder, where they had the chance to see aluminum being extruded into architectural products, followed by fabrication, anodizing and finishing.
Over half of Vitrum’s guests signed up for one of four educational workshops that were led by industry experts and held prior to the tour. These four AIBC accredited workshops consisted of interactive presentations where architects had the opportunity to earn continuing education credits while learning more about the materials they specify and the architectural glass products available today.
- How to Build a Glass House, presented by Leondard Pianalto, Read Jones Christoffersen
- Glass Production, Processing and Performance, presented by Andre Kenstowicz, Vitro Glass
- Glass Selection for Facades: Rendering to Reality, presented by Steve Thomas, Guardian Glass
- Storefront vs Curtainwall, presented by Tikhon Osipov, Apex Facade Systems
The workshop and tour were followed by Vitrum’s Twenty Year Celebration providing a networking opportunity and the ability discuss and share ideas on upcoming projects. Guests had the opportunity to connect with primary float glass manufactures, Vitro, Guardian and Saint-Gobain, while also visiting tabletop displays from Walker Glass, ICD and Apex Facade Systems.
Vitrum Glass Group looks forward to continuing to building on their relationships with the local architectural community and thanks their partners, suppliers and customers for a great twenty years and look forward to another twenty. Vitrum Glass Group’s next open house will coincide with Glass Talks 2018, exact dates to be announced early that year.
