Maintenance Manager

Reporting to – Technical Manager

Position Description:

Reporting to the Technical Manager, the Maintenance Manager will be responsible for the efficient and effective operation of all manufacturing equipment. You will ensure that regular preventative maintenance and immediate repairs are completed with the minimum amount of production downtime. You will provide leadership, training, and guidance to all maintenance technicians on his shift. The maintenance manager will support the company’s highest productivity and safety standards while maximizing quality conformance and minimizing waste. The Maintenance manager will maintain a clean and safe work environment at all times and actively participate in safety training and enforcement of all maintenance staff to ensure Company Safety Goals are met.

Duties include:

  • Hold daily crew chats at all shift changes
  •  Maintain and keep the preventative maintenance system current
  • Work with outside services, in a cost-effective manner, to maintain forklift to the highest standards utilizing maintenance staff when possible to reduce repair costs
  • Work with the Plant Manager and Department Managers to ensure the plant is running at its highest operational efficiencies designed to meet internal customer requirements
  • Work with all Departments to ensure the highest quality standards are met and to reduce quality non-conformance
  • In conjunction with the Technical Manager, make changes to personnel, procedures, and policies in order to achieve the designed level of quality and cost reduction
  • Working with the Human Resources Manager, you will enforce all aspects of company policies and procedures up to and including disciplinary action
  • Make recommendations concerning staffing within departments including the provision of annual review
  •  Promote a positive and healthy relationship between maintenance and production staff
  • Assess the adequacy of equipment, its reliability, failure rate and propose improvements for the maintenance of the equipment
  • Work closely with all Managers to monitor and improve efficiency, output, and safety of the plant
  •  Be on all call for all breakdowns, after hours, to ensure effective, efficient, and expedient repairs of machinery. You will explore all venues of technical support and maintenance personnel
  • Maintain project lists and maintenance request forms, ensuring all paperwork is completed in a timely fashion
  • Working with the Maintenance Purchaser, you will ensure paperwork is complete and accurate with all required information
  • Audit PM’s of all technicians to ensure consistency and thoroughness
  • Working with the Maintenance Scheduler, you will ensure all log books are up to date and accurate

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Excellent communication both written and verbal
  • Excellent organization skills
  •  Excellent computer skills including MS Office
  •  Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma Methodology
  •  Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently or within a team environment at all levels of employees

Qualifications:

  • Red Seal Ticketed Millwright and/or Red Seal Ticketed Industrial Electrician
