Vitrum™ Glass Provides Update on Company Health and Safety Protocols

March 16, 2021, LANGLEY, B.C. — Vitrum™ Glass Group (“Vitrum”) today announced the implementation of additional COVID-19 mitigation measures to ensure the health and safety of its employees following the confirmed outbreak of the virus at its facility.

Guided by the advice of public health officials, these measures include:

  • Conducting a fulsome audit of all COVID-19 safety protocols;
  • Enhancing formal COVID-19 training for supervisors and employees;
  • Deploying additional floor markings at designated entry and exit points to ensure physical distancing;
  • Enhanced cleaning procedures at all workstations; and
  • Encouraging employees to follow safe carpooling guidelines and to limit close contact between individuals from separate households, consistent with public health guidance.

“All of us at Vitrum are incredibly concerned about the outbreak we’ve experienced, and we’re wishing our colleagues a healthy and speedy recovery,” said Vitrum President Thomas Martini . “It’s important to note that to date, Vitrum has implemented all necessary safety precautions urged by public health officials, including physical distancing, daily health and temperature checks prior to the start of every shift and contact tracing. The outbreak occurred despite these measures. As a result, we are conducting a fulsome review to ensure this does not happen again.”

At the direction of Fraser Health, a number of Vitrum employees have received their first vaccine dose . Provincial health units have said they plan to target and vaccinate those working in industries that are considered high-risk for transmission.

“We recognize there is frustration about some of our employees being vaccinated ahead of other members of our community,” Martini added. “Our top priority has always been the health and safety of our employees, which we’ve worked to ensure by closely following the guidance of public health officials. That’s precisely why we accepted the offer from Fraser Health to administer these much-needed vaccines on site as part of the province’s broader vaccination strategy.”

Per company policy, Vitrum is strongly encouraging all employees to get vaccinated as soon as they are eligible and to follow public health guidelines to minimize the risk of spreading the virus.
